About this event

Cruise Program
Thursday night the 8th, early arrivers can join members at the Bard & Banker for dinner.  Docktails will be on Friday at the Causeway docks. Saturday will be for exploring Victoria capped with a dinner event with mystery role-play and a live band at the Hotel Grand Pacific’s Vancouver Island Ballroom,
with its wrap-around terrace and stunning views of the Inner Harbor.

Don’t have a boat? We will help match you with another member’s boat, or you can come by BC ferry, and stay at the Hotel Grand Pacific with a discounted room rate.

Saturday Dinner Event

After socializing with a no-host bar, the first activity of the evening will be a murder mystery, the Malachi Strout Family Reunion with 8 contentious family members and an Inspector. Each table will have to solve the mystery of who murdered old man Strout. You will work in your assigned character with the others at your table to solve the mystery (over-acting encouraged). Whoever solves the mystery will be awarded a share of the Malachi fortune. To help you prepare for your assigned role you will receive a description of it ahead of the event to help you get in character (do not share with anyone, after all it is a mystery!)

A luscious dinner with wine will then be served. Offered will be your pre-selected choice of Braised Beef Short ribs, Seared Snapper or Vegetarian Strudel. Dessert will be a lovely Lemon Posset Tart.

Music will be provided by Bill Johnson and his Blues Band of first-class musicians who will play a soft background set during dinner and then pick it up afterwards for dancing and socializing.

It should be a rockin’ good night!!!!!

Cruise Fee

The cruise fee is $89 per person which includes the dinner and wine, live band, and send-off coffee & pastries.

Hotel Room Reservations

The Grand Pacific Hotel has filled up for our cruise dates so those not lodging on boats will need to select another venue.

The following hotels currently (6/22) have availability for our dates (Sept 9-11), pricing comparable or less than Grand Pacific, good ratings, and are close to the harbor and event hotel:

• Embassy Inn
• Best Western Inner Harbor
• DoubleTree by Hilton

There are many more options if these don’t suit you, including a splurge at the Empress.

Moorage Reservations

Cruisers need to make their own reservations online with the Causeway Marina, referring to the group reservation “SJIYC” under Special Requests.  A C$25 group fee will be added to your moorage charges.

Other Means of Getting to Victoria

We will be matching folks without boats to members with boats – this is a great way to make some new friends!  Just indicate your interest during registration.

The Friday Harbor to Sidney ferry will not be running this summer, however you can reach Victoria either by driving to the Tsawwassen BC ferry terminal (2 hours from Anacortes) or taking the Victoria Clipper or Kenmore Air from Seattle.
