Yellow Island Day Cruise – Essential Information - Yellow Island Rules limit the number of registrants for this cruise to 20 people.
Discover the beauty of Yellow Island, a 11-acre wildlife preserve managed by The Nature Conservancy. Enjoy a guided nature walk led by local naturalist and native plant expert Jane Wentworth, who will share insights on the island’s vibrant wildflowers, typically in bloom during April and May. The local caretaker, Ángel Quimbita will be joining us too, so there will be a wealth of information shared. Please remain on marked trails and carry out all personal items to help protect this unique environment. Also, no pets on the island please.
Anchoring & Landing
Yellow Island does not have mooring or dock facilities. Anchor in the red zone near the southeast beach by the Dodd cabin, between Yellow Island and McConnell Island. Space is limited, so please “buddy up” with fellow boaters to keep the number of boats to a minimum. Only land your dinghy on the adjacent south shore by the Dodd cabin; the north shore is off-limits to protect sensitive habitats. Also, please respect the eel gras zones between the island and the green line.
Lunch & Social
Food is not permitted onshore, but join us for a delicious BBQ pulled pork lunch aboard Making Memories, a 32-foot blue Cutwater. Drinks, plates, and utensils will be provided. Please bring a small side salad to share.
Schedule
Arrive onshore by 11:00 AM to join Jane’s nature walk, which lasts about an hour. Afterwards, we’ll return to the boat for lunch and good company.
We look forward to a memorable day exploring and connecting with nature!
